The story of RainCoast Orchids is a simple one……

It started with a couple of post bloom Phalaenopsis orchids that our son wanted to recycle. He knew we had been quite successful growing a wide variety of vegetable, berry and orchard crops at our experimental farm in Port Townsend, Washington in the shadow of the Olympic Mountains and that we had four temperature controlled greenhouses that were not all utilized during Fall and Winter. He provided the challenge to see if we could coax those orchids into blooming again. Four years ago we didn’t know an orchid from a beet; we know a lot more about orchids now and his challenge has led to an appreciation of how complex and delightful these plants can be.
